Hi! I’m Shanlyn Goodman
Hello, Beautiful Humans! My name is Shanlyn. I discovered my love for baking and being in the kitchen at a pretty young age. My mom was very patient, allowing me to play and try recipes before age 10. I remember getting the spatula in the mixer hooks and thinking….”This is it, she will never allow me in here again!”
Well, she DID! I have been inviting people to try my food and baking ever since then. I was gifted a Bosch Universal for our wedding 34 years ago (from my Grandpa Walter, who lived with us my entire life growing up.) A friend from church told me she bakes whole grain bread using her Bosch….and that I should try it. So, she gave me some fresh-milled wheat and I made bread using her recipe. My husband and kids loved it! We quickly invested in a WhisperMill grain mill for our home. My neighbor found out I liked to bake and invited me to do the local farmer’s market. We signed up and had a great season baking for our amazing customers. My sweet momma even sat with me at the first market!
The kids joined me, making breads on their own. We did several different markets for awhile. Then, we left our city life for the country. I did bake for one local farmer’s market and quit after one negative comment from a customer planted a seed in my thoughts. 😢 (This is why I am so passionate about choosing conscious words and what thoughts I now hold captive!) One of my kids asked me why I stopped baking because I used to enjoy it so much? (I had several health issues during the time I stopped eating my fresh-milled bread…I just didn’t correlate it until we started eating it again in the last two years). I began baking again, started sharing with friends from my home kitchen, connected with a friend who had my “dream” oven (a Rackmaster 2020), and the rest is history.
She offered her entire bakery equipment and books to me for a lump sum, I said “Yes.”…not knowing where I would even store it once delivered. and the rest is history. It was definitely a winding path bringing this dream to reality. Now, my heart mission is to invite people to sit at my table and break bread together. Simple, wholesome, satisfying, life-nurturing bread. I imagine our world sitting together and doing this everywhere. I am grateful for all the positive cheerleaders in my life!!! My bread is infused with love and simple ingredients. I choose love (and bread) every day. 🍞I love you! 💛
How We Do It?
I will do it “One Step at a Time.” This entire bakery dream began as a seed in my heart when I was a small girl. I will be completely transparent and say I am definitely “learning new things” as I walk through them! This looks like something new each day. I already have so much respect and admire other small business owners in my community for paving the way and setting an example to people like me. Thank you for being brave. I follow with grace and ease, paving a path to providing life-sustaining bread to our community.
How We Started
The seeds were planted in my childhood, with the kitchen always being my happy place. A place for me to show an expression of love and share with the people in my life. The bakery equipment story is a real miracle of Divine Timing and angels being placed in my path. I will share this story in a Blog soon. I connected with a sweet baker named Sharlene, who had my “Dream” oven. She shared her love and passion with me and I started dreaming bigger. I ended up purchasing everything and have deep love and gratitude for Sharlene every day.
Our Business
Our business will always be centered around serving our whole-grain, fresh-milled bread and products. It will also be centered around sharing this love in our community and meeting our customers to share bread together. I see my community and the people I love fully living their lives in thriving health, hope, and with gratitude. I envision reconnecting and sharing based on common ground (Bread….and food?) I love you! 💛 See you soon!
My whole-grain cinnamon rolls are a hit with everyone. One friend tried them and stated….”I didn’t feel the typical urge to take a nap after eating your delicious roll; they are different than other cinnamon rolls.“
